ProxyChains and firefox not playing well together. ERROR: 'libproxychains.so'

I have googled, yahoo'd, and yes, even binged and have not come up with a solution that is working for me.

The problem:

I am attempting to run the commmand

proxychains firefox ipchicken.com
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libproxychains.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.

It will then take me to the webpage, and display my real IP. When I check the terminal, I notice this error.

I have read other places to edit the /bin/proxychains and change the LD_PRELOAD call from "libproxychains.so" to "libproxychains.so.3" I have checked permissions, and I have execute permissions on all the libraries that I have attempted.

I got desperate, and even tried executing the libproxychains.so.3.0.0, which yielded no results.
