I have no idea. im rather new to this configuration stuff. where would i check that? it is my understanding that quite a few people on this forum use the exact same wifi card im using so they should know. however i have searched the forums here multiple times and no one has posted about this problem.
what is wierd is can do everything else just fine. Kismet works the whole aircrack suite works. it just wont let me set up WEP. i havnt tried connecting to an unsecure network yet. but i will try that probably later on today.
ok here is the output from trying to connect to an insecure network no dice...
bt ~ # iwconfig wlan0 essid wesmagyartestnet
bt ~ # iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
wlan0 802.11b/g ESSID:"wesmagyartestne"
Mode:Managed Channel=1 Access Point: Not-Associated
Bit Rate=11 Mb/s Tx-Power=25 dBm
Retryn Fragment thr
ff
Encryption keyff
Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
bt ~ # iwlist scan
lo Interface doesn't support scanning.
eth0 Interface doesn't support scanning.
wlan0 Failed to read scan data : Operation not permitted
bt ~ # dhcpcd wlan0
then it just hangs. i know the network is there i am connected to it on my windows laptop. so yeah no idea. it is completly insecure no wep or anything. so add to the list of bugs it wont let me set the full essid it cuts off the last letter ive tried it with the network name in quotes and everything... its there. grrr this is annoying as hell.
I am struggling a bit with this usb wifi device as well.
Any luck yet?
