Hello,
I'm new to Backtrack,
we had security session (made by a security company) at my work and they show us how to use backtrack they gave us some cards to use with our laptops and they said that we can use some of the Atheros chip-set based network card to use all the cracking (hacking) function in Backtrack.
the session was really well done, but some information was based on cards made for the US market and not her in Europe (Scandinavia).
I saw that people here like this card ubnt.com/products_src.php4 do they sell this card in Europe ?
is there any recommended cards that I should look at or consider?
we need to preform all kind of security check on our Wireless Network.
so we (I) need a good card for Master/Manged/... mods
just something that will work for us and compatible with Backtrack
it will be nice if some one tell me a type for PCMCIA / USB / Mini-PCI (build in for laptops)
also I have a list of Cards that I'm not sure if it will work OK
SMC EZ Connect 108 Mbps PCMCIA
D-Link DWL-G650 108 Mbps PCMCIA
Linksys WPC300N 300 Mbps 802.11n (draft) !!!!!
3Com 11 a/b/g PC Card 11/54 Mbps XJACK
now my other question: dose all Atheros chip-set based cards work with backtrack or there is some special type (special Atheros chip) ?
and sorry if some one already asked such question (I did not find any satisfied answer).
I was also checking the madwifi.org website and comparing but I got more confused !!,So I thought I should ask the people here too :-)
Thank you for your time

Thanks allot for the fast replay
my laptop has the Intel IPW2200 so this should work OK then according to
backtrack.offensive-security.com/index.php?title=HCL:Wireless#IPW2200
I'll try to test it :-)
I thought it's only Atheros chip-set based cards have the ability to work with backtrack in every mode and settings
Thank you again
IPW2200will not be able to inject.
Buy another card that does.
the netgear wg511t (version 1 only) is a great all around inexpensive card w/ a atheros based chip set.
Thank you guys
the cost of the Network Card is not a problem, it will be used for work and not personal use.
and hope these cards can be found in Europe
for my personal use, I'm happy with my Ubuntu and IPW2200![]()
