Default Unable to handle kernel paging request

Using Backtrack 4, the liveCD worked fine so I ran the install script (no problems).

On boot though, I type in the root and password (which it accepts) and what follows is an infinite amount of "Unable to handle the kernel paging request" error messages. It just keeps going and doesn't end! I have tried the Live CD since and now that fails to start up.

Anyone have any ideas why this might be?

I have Windows 7 and Ubuntu 9.04 installed already.

    System specs:

    AMD Athlon 64 3200
    1GB RAM DDR400
    Geforce 6600
    A8N-VM Motherboard
    SATA HDD

    Thanks in advance!

    Try memtest (http://www.memtest.org)?
