Default BT5 R3 unable to install from USB, shows black screen

    Hello!
I have a HP ProBook 4320s, and I used to have dual-boot with BT5 R2 and W7. Now, I installed a fresh W7, and left out a partition with 20GB to install R3 on. I use an USB to install, and it boots fine. I select "Default", but when I come to the screen where I type "startx" to get to the desktop; it never goes to the desktop. A black screen comes up with a white underline blinking two blinks in the top left corner, then it goes all black. I've tested the USB on other computers, and it works fine, so that's not the problem. I thought maybe it had something to do with unsupported hardware, but concidering I used to have R2 before, I guess that's unlikely?
I'm not very experienced with either Linux or BT in particular, but I really want to learn.
Hope someone can help me, thanks in advice!

This should be a simple fix. If you are using an HP with an Intel Graphic HD card, on boot, edit the commands loading when booting to the usb (I believe it's TAB).
This will open the boot listing. Add i915.modeset=1 behind vga=791

If it's not using an Intel graphics card, try: nomodeset behind vga=791

This should allow you to open startx

If you are using the KDE BT5 and above doesn't help you do this next:

    rm /root/.kde/cache-root/icon-cache.kcache
    rm /root/.kde/cache-root/plasma_theme_Volatile.kcache
    rm /root/.kde/cache-bt/icon-cache.kcache
    rm /root/.kde/cache-bt/plasma_theme_Volatile.kcache
    rm -rf /var/tmp/kdecache-root

Once you run these, you should be good to go. Let me know if this helps!

I had this issue. Here is what worked for me.

    1) Boot to splash screen

    2) Hit Tab to edit

    3) After "intrid.gz" enter:

    xforcevesa noapic noapci nosplash irqpoll--
