Could a mod please move to tutorial section? Thanks

This is a guide for those of you who are having trouble with Broadcom chipset wireless cards. This will not allow you to use aircrack or any other WEP/WPA/etc cracking, this will just allow you to gain internet access.

Now to start, the disclaimers:
(1) You must have BT installed on harddriver
(2) You must be logged in as 'root'
(3) Most of this information was not done by me, most of it came from the Ubuntu forums.
Here's is the link: ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=297092&highlight=bcm43xx+ndiswrap per
So credit must go to paperdiesel.

Now lets get to work!

First download the ndiswrapper source code from their website here:
downloads.sourceforge.net/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper-1.47.tar.gz?modtime=1181699252&big_mirror=0

Change directory to the directory you downloaded the file to and extract the tar-ball:
Code:
tar -zxvf ndiswrapper-1.47.tar.gz
cd ndiswrapper-1.47
Now, for all the inital setup. This will get rid of any remnants of ndiswrapper, and blacklist the current driver.
Code:
rmmod ndiswrapper
echo blacklist bcm43xx >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
Do not worry if there was an error message after typing the first line, this just means that ndiswrapper was never previously installed on your computer. This step was just for precaution.
NOW PLEASE READ THIS NEXT STEP!!!!

REBOOT SYSTEM NOW!!!

Ok, with that out of the way, you kernel bcm driver is now blacklisted, it is now time to install ndiswrapper. Once again make sure you are in the ndiswrapper-1.47 directory.
Code:
make uninstall
do this several times until you don't see any lines starting with "remove"

Code:
make
make install
The next step is to find your wireless card's driver. Type:
Code:
lspci
look for your card and the model number. Now go here:
ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/joomla/index.php?/component/option,com_openwiki/Itemid,33/id,list/
and find your card's driver. Download this to the ndiswrapper-1.47 directory. Make sure you have a .inf and a .sys file in this directory.

Now associate the drivers with ndiswrapper:
Code:
ndiswrapper -i [Driver_name_here].inf
ndiswrapper -l
This should show a message that says something like "driver present"

This is good. Now setup modprobe files:
Code:
ndiswrapper -mi
modprobe ndiswrapper
This should complete the installation. Type:
Code:
iwlist scanning
This will list any available APs, even if there are none, it should show you that your wireless is working properly.

Just set up your wireless connection, and you're ready to go!

Any problems, please post!
