At shell command prompt type: rfkill list
And tell us what it reports.
ok so my problem is that when i open wicd i cant see any wireless network
and ofc i have ran first /etc/init.d/wicd start
but still and when i run gerix and enable it no problem but when i try to scan it gives me an error 132
for some ppl who think that my card is incompatible well lemme say that on bt3 and bt4 it worked fine
my card is atheros AR5414 driver:ath5k

My problem is "no wireless network found". It displays wicd after upgrade my Backtrack 5 to Backtrack 5 R2. I tried to do which you recommended previous user, but it's unuseful. When was Backtrack 5 (not R2 or R3), WIFI worked very good. Please, help repair WI-FI!

I have an Realtek RTL 8188 CE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC and in Wicd BT5 R3 appear "No wireless network" in my virual machine but I can navigate with Mozila. What I can do to full resolve my problem>
