    Default No PCMCIA controller detected...

Hello, Im new to BT and new to linux as well. My laptop is an Acer TravelMate 8100 and my wifi card is a WG511T.

I haven't had much success with BT to date, and recently did the following:

I went to System >System Information >PCMCIA> and got the message "No PCMCIA controller detected".

I have been having problems connecting to networks, putting my card into monitor mode, and even getting kismet to work. Could this be a source of the problem?

Please help...I'm eager to start using BT for real.

Hmmm ok, let me see if I follow you correctly since I am rather new.

I need to reboot, and then type in "bt irqpoll acpi=off", but at what point. After I have logged in as root...or sometime before that?

    boot:

    type in bt irqpoll acpi=off

    boot: bt irqpoll acpi=off

It's all done just a couple seconds after you reboot...way before you log in to BT2.
I can't say it any easier than that.

Ok, I've tried several times with no luck, I never even see ISOLINUX 3.36 2007-02-10 Copyright (C) 1994-2007 H. Peter Anvin

I'll walk you through my bootup and maybe you can tell me where I might have missed it:

    Reboot
Dual Boot prompt: BT or WinXP (Obviously I select BT here)
Screen says "Loading BT..........(dots continue to extend as time progresses)
Then it starts booting up and scrolling my screen down as it goes through its boot up
Then I am prompted to login

    Please be gentle...
