Default Backtrack / Auditor Mentioned in Book =)

I picked up a pretty good book last week at Barnes/Noble called:

"Stealing the Network: How to Own A Shadow"

The book covers real hacks, SQL/T-SQL injection techniques, rootkits/etc, but is written in a fictional setting. On page 265 one of the main characters is trying to install Nessus, where it then reads:

"Many Internet resources suggested that the easiest way to install and use (Nessus) was by way of a CD-based Linux distribution like Auditor or Backtrack. He downloaded Auditor from remote-exploit.org, burned his ISO image to a CD-ROM, and used it to boot his other laptop. Following a link from remote-exploit.org, he watched a quick video on how to install Nessus, and, created a Nessus user named pawn (the character's hax0r name) and turned his attention.... etc etc"

    Perty kewl...

You will find BackTrack and auditor mentioned or more in many books, some of them include a cd too.

Check out " Live Linux CDs " by Christopher Negus. BT V1 is covered a lot in it.

Default A couple of other notable mentions

Some of you have probably seen these already. They are old, but worth mentioning. I found out about BT through the 2nd link
