I have 10 days trying to install skype and I just cant.
I have found people with the same problem and a lot of different solutions and it just doesn't work to me.Code:root@bt:~# dpkg -i skype-ubuntu-precise_4.1.0.20-1_i386.deb dpkg: error processing skype-ubuntu-precise_4.1.0.20-1_i386.deb (--install): package architecture (i386) does not match system (amd64) Errors were encountered while processing: skype-ubuntu-precise_4.1.0.20-1_i386.deb
I have tried more of 15 different solutions and now i realize Skype is already installed (it is in Internet > Skype). But when I click it to open it do nothing,
some one know why?

Pffbt..
I made a discovery today. I found a computer. Wait a second, this is cool. It does what I want it to. If it makes a mistake, it's because I screwed it up. Not because it doesn't like me... Or feels threatened by me.. Or thinks I'm a smart ass..
Backtrack is a distribution used in penetration tests, multimedia features such as skype, other IM's, video tools, etc. will be hard to install and most likely break the operating system.
Back|track giving machine guns to monkeys since 2007 !

Backtrack is the first Linux I'm using, when I was doing the partitions by mistake I deleted everything in my hard drive and now I only have Backtrack.
I can install windows again but when I start "doing things" with backtrack, I realized it was different compared to windows (LOGICAL).
I study Software Development and I'm very interested in pentesting so I was only going to probe backtrack.
Now that I'm using backtrack I want to learn everything I can with it. As I said this is my first Linux and I know maybe is not a good idea start with Backtrack but it is like a challenge for me being using something different and I like it.
I start reading LPIC-1: Linux Professional Institute Certification Study Guide (for learn about Linux in general) .
Forgetting about Skype, some one recommend me a book after I finish LPIC-1, but this time dedicated to Backtrack?
And the problem of Skype is already solved... I downloaded VirtualBox and there I use Skype when I need to communicate with my friends.
Just tested Skype installed/working fine on BT5r3 32bit
no bricked system... i started out with 64bit tho found getting stuff to work out of the box wasnt easy. so changed to 32bit and never had a problem
