Can't detect WIRELESS, can't get WICD to work !!!

Hello,

I installed BT5 in 64-bit Samsung laptop (along with Win7 in other partition).
However, after completing the installation, the very first time I tried using wicd, I got

could not connect to wicd's d-bus interface

Next I tried these and restarted my laptop,

# dpkg-reconfigure wicd
# update-rc.d wicd defaults

After restarting, the error did not appear. However, wicd showed me the message "No Wireless networks found".
No matter, what I do (refreshing, restarting) it remains same.

I also tried checking a few more things. Assuming that those info may be useful for you guys to help me out, I am posting those below:

I did an update/upgrade and after a reboot I had major issues with wicd. In the end I just saved what I wanted to keep and reloaded. There were a lot of discussions on here about it, but none of them seemed to help in my case. Good luck!

Well, the iwlwifi is a firmware for Intel Wireless 3945, 4965 and 5000-series cards.You omitted the intel card type used..Has to be more specific as to type of hardware used.

I do not see the card listed in the info..It should show the type...You are seeing the firmware (iwlwifi), but not the card or driver to the card.

Type this: lspci -vvs 01:00.0 and see the driver used by kernel at the end..

then see if module is loaded: lsmod | grep -i "driver used by kernel at the end od above command" and modinfo "driver used by kernel at the end od above command".
