cannot access FTP after installing VSFTPD
The following err msg appears when I try to load FTP: "ftp: ftp/tcp: unknown service" nmap localhost shows that ftp is active and running on port 21. I think vsftpd somehow corrupted the ftp shell. any suggestions?

never mind! all I had to do was make a etc/service and add the following lines
ftp-data 20/tcp # File Transfer [Default Data]
ftp-data 20/udp # File Transfer [Default Data]
ftp 21/tcp # File Transfer [Control]
ftp 21/udp # File Transfer [Control]
hit the nail on the head....
