are you asking how to get the prompt that looks like bt
    aircrack-ng-0.9.1 #

    and change it back to...

    bt~ #

    if so...

just type in cd and hit enter or cd / and hit enter.

No..not at all stupid. The only thing stupid would be for you not to have asked. Some commands in Linux are very similar in Windows. Example of your situation...

    in Windows...

    cd \
returns you to the C:> prompt

    in Linux..

    cd /

returns you to the bt~ # prompt

    In Windows...

    ipconfig

    is similar to the BT2's

    ifconfig and iwconfig

as far as showing network info.

Google up Linux commands...especially Linux Slackware (BT's based upon slackware)...and you'll find out that most of all Linux commands are universal commands that can be interchanged with other different flavors of Linux distros. There are some that can't and some that are distro specific..but you get the point.

    Default cd / vs cd

also xploitz i think this would be a good time to point out the difference between root and true root dropping from "bt aircr.....~#" with a cd / will return you to true root where as dropping with a cd will return you to root. which in windows terms is the equiv. to the my files/my doc. dir. and goofy don't get down on yourself everyone starts somewhere and if it hadn't been for guys like exploitz and all the good users here, i would know absolutely nothing, instead i now know next to nothing!! peace

Careful you could be burned at the stake for being a heretic.
A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one.

What if I confess? Sometimes they just exiled them instead of burnning them if they confessed.
