I would recommend you stick with the available window managers, you will encounter a lot of issues while switching to something unsupported.
Hey backtrack community,
I need some help installing the i3 window manager on backtrack 5 r3. I have apt-get installed i3-wm, but I don't know what to put in the xinitrc file. I have read the tutorial for installing fluxbox on backtrack, but I am still lost. Any help would be awesome!

What if I felt compelled to use i3? I just want to try it out...if it is too buggy I will just switch and use whatever is provided. Also are there any other backtrack approved window managers other than fluxbox?
