bootable USB help please

I am trying to create a persistent bootable USB with BT5. I have been following this tutorial here but I have run into an error and I can't figure out what it means or why I am getting it.

I am at the part where I have just moved into the flash drive with the code:

cd  /mnt/sdb1

and the next step is the code:

rsync -r /cdrom/* .

Now when I do that it comes up with this error message:

rsync: link_stat "/cdrom/*" failed: No such file or directory (2)

I have a know good live DVD of BT5 R3 in my DVD drive and I know that it is recognized by the system because I got the info message after I inserted the disc.

can anyone help me out here with this please?

Seems obvious enough...does /cdrom exist?

I have found an easier way of doing this. I used VM Ware and when it asked where I want it to be installed I just pointed to the USB drive and it worked perfectly.
