root/toor long in issues

I have tried several disks and different computers but I get the same results. Everything seems to boot up fine and then when it comes to the login info where typically you login with root/toor then startx will not allow me to log in. It acts like the user/password is bad. Any idea why that is? it says something like can not find kernel image: root. 3 different disks. 1 from shoplinuxonline dot com, a kde 32, and a gnome 32 burnt dvd. the 2 I burnt were on memorex dvd if anyone thinks that matters.

btw it is the gnome 32 bit

Are you using a live disc or a hard disk installation?

It's an attempt at running a live disk. Basicly here's what has happened I had been running Backtrack linux since bt3 and have never ran into this issue till BT5r2 & r3. Both from disks I've burnt and ones I purchased. Ok I got lazy a while back and bought a backtrack linux usb preloaded. The USB worked great, disks have not!! and I have no clue why.

It is a live disk. I haven't gotten to the point of being able to do a full install, heck I can't even get it to except the root/toor log in info.

Have you tried burnning at a very low speed?...

I was burning it at 4x but I guess I can try at 1x-2x.

I tried burning at single speed, on different brand dvd's...still the same issue.

Have you used an ISO image downloaded from the backtrack home page?..Have you tried it?... If not, download it and checksum it...

If so, please post an image of what appears on screen at login..

I have never had to log in on a live boot ... I just had to use startx.
When you do get to the BT desktop you need to open the Terminal and type:
passwd root //type new passwd
retype new Unix passwd //new passwd

then you won't have an issue if your computer goes to sleep or whatever you need the passwd for.
the only reason you should be using root/toor is if you have it installed on a VM or something then your boots
require log in, passwd, startx

ok out of the 3 disks I have recently burnt 1 of the .ISO the checksum is bad but the other 2 are just fine. but still the same issue.

Would you please post the error (an image) to see what might be happening?...If it is a login/psswd error or cannot load image kernel....Also info about the pc or laptop used...
If HDD install, how did you do it (proccess)?...
