    just don't use it........

simply associate and do a dhcpcd command....

    Default helper

    rtfm

    use the following commands:

    ifconfig ath0 up
    iwconfig ath0 essid nameofsystem
    dhcpcd ath0

there are optional commands for sequencing of the key if WEP is used.

    man iwconfig

alternatively for a wpa based system set your wpa passphrase using

    wpa_passphrase essid_name passphrase_here > /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf

    then:

    wpa_supplicant -B -Dwext -iath0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
    dhcpcd ath0

    next time say ... please!

    Default MAC restriction

Is there a MAC restriction on the AP so that it will only accept connections from the 'real' MAC?

What is the make and model of the AP?

After you associate but before you type the dhcpcd command please detail here a listing of the iwconfig command.

Macchanger must be used on the parent not the VAP.
