Exclamation Backtrack 5 R3 Nvidia xorg error

    Hey guys,

Im very new to the world of Ubuntu/backtrack, which I'm very eager to learn much more!

Ive been hindered by the installation of nvidia driver.
So far i have installed all of the nvidia drivers and the cpu toolkit, as per doco, but when i "startx", all that happens is the display is then black, whilst the logon music is played merrily in the background... which nothing continues to happen, it seems like my screen hasn't refreshed or fully initialized yet, whilst the OS is still loaded in the background like normal.

Looking at the xorg.0.log i find an error:

(EE) Oct 29 16:47:20 NVIDIA(0): Failed to initiate mode change.
(EE) Oct 29 16:47:20 NVIDIA(0): Failed to complete mode change

    ***EDIT****
    Just before the above line is another;

    (II) Oct 30 21:30:45 NVIDIA(0): Setting mode "nvidia-auto-select"

Is that the normal config to have??

    here is my xorg.conf :

im stumped where to go next.
I cannot find this error anywhere else on the forums! or i have just failed miserably trying...

This is on my laptop with:
    Backtrack 5 R3
    Nvidia Geforce 610m

I have blacklisted the other drivers so nvidia is the primary and also updated and upgraded all lastest packages.
In the grub.cfg i set the "text splash" and "i915.module=1", which only changes the boot cosmetically.

Anything else i need to provide please tell me.

Just a quick request for anyone out there that has a relatively late model graphics card, Nvdia 200-600 series, please dump a copy of your Xorg.0.log here &/or your xorg.conf, would love to have a look at a working nvidia driver config....
