My desktop does the same thing. I switched the boot order in the BIOs to load from USB-FDD first but it still likes to go to my HDD every time. I gave up and started hitting F12 on startup. Bumping this thread for justice!
Hi all.
I installed Backtrack 5 R3 with Untebootin.
But the Backtrack is not booted after power on my desktop computer.
On my laptop it successfully booted.
For checking I specially installed another OS - Windows XP with utility WinSetupFromUSB - it has successfully booted (on desktop).
What the trouble?
Version of BIOS - Intel Corp. NL94510J.86A.0036.2009.1231.1407
By the way, I updated BIOS to last version from official site of Intel - no reaction.
Please, help me with this problem.
Thanks in advance.
PS. Sorry for my english

what kind of desktop do you have? are you able to get into the boot menu and select USB as the option, does it do anything after that or just loads the HDD?
I able to get into the boot menu using F10, and select USB as option.
Before I told you that USB-stick with Windows XP starts successfully.
USB boot works correctly. There's no problem. Backtrack doesn't want to launch on my PC.
After selecting USB boot from boot menu system type "Boot error" and that's it. HDD not loaded.
But it works on my laptop Acer.
If possible, choose "Legacy" as priority over "UEFI" in the BIOS setup. Good luck
when you select the usb option there should be a few of them like usb-hdd, usb-fdd, usb-zip and an extra one or two perhaps depending on your system. pick the usb-hdd option and go to your bios as well and check the boot order, but the usb at the top. even though the same disk works on your laptop it might not hurt to re install bt on the usb again. wats the specs on the dekstop?
