Cannot access the Internet after setting proxy server in firefox using hamster

Backtrack 5
Firefox 10.0.2

I am trying to use the ferret and hamster tools. However, everything works fine until I set the firefox proxy to 127.0.0.1:1234

The steps I have taken
1: Correct wireshark packets and save them in the following directory /pentent/sniffers/hamster
2: run ferret with the following command: ./ferret -r test.pcap
3: run hamster: ./hamster
Set browser to use proxy http://127.0.0.1:1234
DEBUG: set_ports_option(1234)
DEBUG: mg_open_listening_port(1234)
Proxy: listening on 127.0.0.1:1234
begining thread
4: I set the Firefox proxy to 127.0.0.1:1234
5: I go to http://hamster
6: If I click on any of the links I cannot access the Internet. However, before I set the proxy I can browse the Internet as normal.

I am running Backtrack5 as a guest Virtual Box 4.1.8. Fedora 16 is the host.

However, I don't think its a virtual problem. As I can access the Internet as normal before I set the proxy. I have also tried doing the same test on my Fedora 16. However, I have the same problem with the proxy.

It seems you are trying to set your proxy to local machine address, and are not setting up correct proxy. Before applying proxy settings confirm correct address.

You can also try detecting proxy automatically.
