Sorry but if you can't figure out what you should answer in that question, then you need to learn at least the BASICS about networks before go around trying to pentest/hack anything.
You won't learn much by just following tutorials, always try to understand how things works.

well, this is the book i used to learn about networks, there are lots of books on the topic, i can't really tell you wich one is the best.
i had classes about it on college too, i could send you my professor's slides, but they are in portuguese so i guess they won't be very usefull.
A quick research about tcp/ip might solve the problem you pointed in this topic, but i definitely suggest you to choose a book to learn it better and deeper.
