    Default Update drivers for AWUS036NHR on BT5 R3?

    Hi there,

    I'm really new at Linux and using the Alfa AWUS036NHR, I'm trying to get reaver to work and to get a succesful handshake using BackTrack 5 R3 (32Bit or 64Bit, GNOME or KDE).

    I'm using BT5 on VMWare Fusion 5 on a MacBook Air (2010) running 10.8.2

    I would like to know how I can update/replace the current compat-wireless/realtek drivers with newer ones?

    Right now the current version on the Realtek website is:
    Version: 3.4.4_4749 | UpdateTime: 2012/9/12
    http://218.210.127.131/downloads/dow...true#RTL8188RU

    Right now BT5-R3_64Bit_Gnome is telling me I'm using (lshw -C Network):
    driver=rtl8192cu
    driverversion = 3.2.6

    How do I update/replace these drivers, step by step? I would really appreciate the help

    I believe there is currently a bug with reaver that causes to hang while determining if the access point uses WPS

    That could be the issue as I have both AWUS036H and AWUS036NH

    I think the arguement to not check for WPS first -c, I could be wrong

    I belive the chipset is not supported by reaver.

    But you might want to check compatibility, refer here: http://code.google.com/p/reaver-wps/...irelessDrivers

    Please, do not post "How do I update/replace these drivers, step by step?" It is not the right way to post.

    The section states: "Backtrack beginners section" and not "Linux beginners section"...

    Do not get me wrong, but need to have a little linux background to use BT5, after all, BT is a Linux distro.

    Luck..
