Type starttx and it should work. It did it for me.
Hey!
I have the same problem, but i wasn´t trying to install it, i was just checking the LiveCD version, i have the latest one Backtrack 5 r3, 32 bits, GNOME
I have a laptop HP.
I Tried also with another Laptop but it said the same....
I tried startx but it didn´t work, the screen just turned into black, and i couldn´t write or type anything, it just frozed.
By the way, what is md5?
YJehu, that sounds like a video driver issue with the GUI. Can you get around at the command line ok?
The reference to md5 means md5 hash. After downloading BackTrack, it's good practice to compare the md5 hash posted on the website to the hash of your download.
If I could figure out how to scuba dive & hack at the same time, there would be nothing I couldn't do...
I agree wit scott, It seems to be a video issue..How about posting video hardware...
