mac spoofing

ok, so my router does not have mac address filtering on but the thing is when I try to spoof my mac address using macchanger or ifconfig hw ether, and subsequently try to connect to the router,I get an extremely slow connection and almost no internet connection, I'm using kubuntu with knetwork manager if that means anything, does anyone know what's the problem?

I am sure that you will get a better response from the forums of the distro you are using.
