    Default BT5r3 x64 Firefox java plugin not working

    BT5r3 Fresh install from the ISO to a VM with 40g of drive space. Everything else is working fine. The only things I have updated was
    apt-get update/upgrade
    metasploit
    w3af
    Nessus "plus registered it without issue"
    Firefox
    Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686 on x86_64; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0.1

    removed the icedtea6 stuff (didn't seem to work when it was there and a few sites said remove it)

    I followed the instructions from this link
    http://www.backtrack-linux.org/wiki/...p/Java_Install

    changing the 1.7.0_05 to 1.7.0_07 in the paths

    which java
    /usr/bin/java

    root@bt:~# java -version
    java version "1.7.0_07"
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_07-b10)
    Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.3-b01, mixed mode)
    root@bt:~# version

    in my printenv I have
    JAVA_HOME=/opt/java/jre1.7.0_07/bin/java

    When running the plugin symbolic link command I ran the below command, done within the mozilla/plugins directory (and because java is x64 there is no i386 given in the example, only amd64
    ln -sf /opt/java/jre1.7.0_07/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/

    in my usr/lib/mozilla/plugins I have
    libnpjp2.so (nothing else in this directory)

    When this didn't work I deleted the symlink and even tried just copying the file to the plugin's directory, still didn't work
    (all this copying, creating of links etc... was done without firefox running)

    But the Java plugin still does not work. I have read a number of online articles but nothing. When I do a
    http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp (it says "Something is wrong, Java is not working")
    When I run
    aboutlugins it says
    No enabled plugins found

    when I goto the below website it says "Browser has Java disabled"
    http://javatester.org/version.html

    added these lines to my .profile and etc/profile (as per another suggestion from a website)

    JAVA_HOME=/opt/java/jdk1.7.0_07
    PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin:$JAVA_HOME/bin
    JRE_HOME=/opt/java/jre1.7.0_07
    PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin:$JRE_HOME/bin
    export JAVA_HOME
    export JRE_HOME
    export PATH

    AFTER ALL OF THIS THE JAVA PLUGIN STILL DOES NOT WORK, so NESSUS WON"T WORK PROPERLY.
    I can't understand why so many people are having a problem with this issue and why it seems so difficult to get it working
    ANY IDEAS ??

    When I did the firefox upgrade it looks like noscripts was not even installed. I installed it anyhow and enabled, disabled it and nothing seemed to work. When I go to this link

    http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/

    I get this

    For your safety, Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Java. Please upgrade to the latest version.

    How can this be an older version of Java, I have only just downloaded and installed it.
