Well, I restarted my BT again...and now the sound is back....gah
Any ideas as to what's causing this behavior?
Thanks.
I was running kismet all of a sudden, then the entire system froze and I had to restart the old fashion way. So then I loaded up BT in nodhcp mode and the startup sound didn't work.
Now this happens every once in a while. Sometimes with nodhcp on and sometimes not. But this time it didn't even mount my other partitions on start up. well, one of the benefits of the usb external hdd backtrack is that u can just delete the contents of the changes partition and it's fresh and new.
The problem now however is....I deleted everything in my changes folder...and my sound still doesn't work. Startup sound didn't play...in the control center...none of the sound tests work.
Any tips on how to fix this? thanks.

This happens to me sometimes. I know this is probably not correct but when i use my dedicated mute button when i am running another OS, then reboot in BT sound doesn't come up. I usually don't pay attention because i don't care about the sound in BT, however this might be something for you to look into.
I got the same trouble too...sometime I can hear the sound.. and sometimes it saids sound server is not or something like that...
Try shutting the computer computer completely off before booting bt. I've noticed this on some laptops after rebooting.
Java messes up my sound sometimes.

Of course, if you really wanted to have some fun, go to Wal-Mart late at night and ask the greeter if they could help you find trashbags, roll of carpet, rope, quicklime, clorox and a shovel. See if they give you any strange looks. --Streaker69
