    Default About my IP

    Hey everyone,
I'm new in this Forum and this is my 1st thread, so hello everybody.
I am running BackTrack 5 R3 with VM VirtualBox/ VMWare workstation.
When I do Start, and press 'ifconfig' in the Terminal, I see my internal IP (my computer IP for example: 10.x.x.x) and I have a network in linux.
The thing I want to do is to change this IP to 192.168.x.x (VirtualBox IP). When I try to do that, I lose my internet connection in linux.

I'm sorry that I don't understand so well about that stuff, so thanks everyone who will try to help me.

I do not mean to sound harsh, but perhaps you should learn the basics of generic Linux networking before working with a distribution geared towards network penetration testing?

    Just a thought.

If you don't want to help so don't. Anyway, I have resolved the problem.
