It's possible if you treat it the same as bootcamp, but as a few of us Mac users will point out, it's almost not worth the effort. Get yourself a USB wifi dongle if you need one, and run Backtrack inside a VBox VM.
That said, your statement of what operating system you have indicates a general lack of experience in operating system installation (among other things). Your best bet would be to start with something easier like Ubuntu or CentOS, get used to how the whole thing goes together before you start trying to crack stuff. Safer.

I think a virtual machine would be the best bet, you can play around with backtrack then without damaging your machine (well unless you hack into your own machine an mess stuff up but thats really unlikly)
