    Foreground
    2nd Digit
    30 - Black
    31 - Red
    32 - Green
    33 - Yellow
    34 - Blue
    35 - Magenta
    36 - Cyan
    37 - White

    Background
    3rd Digit
    40 - Black
    42 - Green
    43 - Yellow
    44 - Blue
    45 - Magenta
    46 - Cyan

    I was considering posting the same. And those color codes are accurate.
    Heres a color chart picture to add more realism..



    To use this chart, find the color you'd like to use, and find the corresponding foreground (on the left 30-37) and background (on top 40-47) numbers. For example, if you like green on a normal black background, the numbers are 32 and 40. Then, take your prompt definition and add the appropriate color codes.

    Question

    maybe it will be useful if i jump into a script with a text menu ?

    changes your prompt colors directory colors and all what is possible in a script ?

    with revert back possibilities and 'color profiles' management for example ?


    i think won't be too difficult.....

    iv looked in a little more details..........

    will not be a pb ........ but i must sort all possible options for the prompt :

    like username display / not
    hostname

    current working dir
    additional text

    fg color and bg color for each of the previous options ....
