Exclamation AWUS036NH (rt200usb driver) in Bactrack 5 R3 not working

    Hi all

I've downloaded BackTrack 5 R3 the other day and had been trying all day long to make my Alfa AWUS036NH (RT3070 chipset) to work, or at least to be detected.

It runs out-of-the-box in BackTrack 5 R2, with different compat-wireless driver revisions. In BT5 R3, no matter what, I could not make it work. I installed the latest compat-wireless stable and older ones (2.6), latest bleeding edge etc. ,but in avail.

I compiled at least 15 different drivers, tried everything, rummaged the net for a solution and nothing.

    Any tips guys?

Hello all, and I want to thank you for all the support you give the community. It helps newbs like me have a chance at an education in these fields.
Anyway I have been banging my head with this card AWUS036NH, It was my fault for just skimming the web to find a good card and not doing my research first(Lesson Learned). Anyway im kind of stuck with it so im hoping I can get it to do what I bought it for, which is security pen testing. I cannot get it to do packet injections when using aireplay-ng. I got it through the test phases which state that it can inject and so on, but when I approach my home router I get no arp requests and no sent packets, just read packets. If I set aireplay to re authenticate I can get a (ack) count but thats it. I am soo frustrated. I get stuck and cannot finish the simple wep crack.Lemme give you the information I know that may assist in helping me :P)

I think thats the info you need on that.
I am using a dinosaur of a computer Inspiron 6000.
My os is BT5 R3 which I installed straight to the laptop from usb.
I just started tackling this a few days ago but I am eager to learn. Anything you can help with would be greatly appreciated. Please make your responses as simple as possible due to the fact that I am not experienced in linux...like at all. Everything I learned are the things I needed to learn to get this far.

Yo guys, i dunno if u fixed ur problem, but i just got my alfa wifi and i had the same problem. So i was looking for some info here on forum, but i didnt find it. Maybe i wasnt looking for long enough :)

Im on old Toshiba Tecra M9, BT5 R3. Not a very clean and fresh install. Done some damage to it :)
With my build in wifi adapter i have no problems at all. air*-ng works fine. Then i connected my alfa and ....

    2. iwconfig

    wlan1 IEEE 802.11bgn ESSID:off/any
    Mode:Managed Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=0 dBm
    Retry long limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
    Encryption key:off
    Power Management:on

    wlan0 IEEE 802.11abgn ESSID:off/any
    Mode:Managed Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=15 dBm
    Retry long limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off

so, my alfa is now wlan1

    Power Management:off

    6. airmon-ng start wlan1
