Question Stuck in a loop: Bios - Boot BT5r2 from USB - Select Text - Repeat.

So this is where I pop my cherry!

Recently, I've downloaded BT5r2 x64 GNOME and setup a 16gb USB flash drive with UNetBootin AND Live USB install (suggested alternative somewhere in a thread around here) to make BT5 bootable on my USB flash drive.

Here's the sequence I go through:

    • - Reboot with USB flash drive connected to my PC
      - Bios loads
      - USB device is prime in my boot sequence
      - BT5 UI is loaded
      - Select text (to finally launch startx)
      - PC Reboots
      - Back to Bios loading, BT5 UI

The only feature of the BT5 UI that actually works as it should (or so I think it does) is the "Start from Hard drive" which launches Win7 (previously installed).

I'm simply looking to get the BT5 OS install going - cant seem to get that far... /noobhat

For what its worth - I am currently downloading the x86 version and the KDEx86 version. I'll be posting any progress right back here as soon as I get back home from the office.

Any suggestions are welcome - any pertinent info in regards to my hardware required will be posted upon request. I rather not slander this post with specs unless their are specifically requested.

    Much appreciated!!

    M.

Have you verified the MD% checksum?
Tried a different USB stick? A DVD maybe?
Different USB port on your computer?
    Different computer?

If I understand correctly, you select "Text Mode" from the BT5 boot menu, at which point the system reboots?

What's the last message or text you see on-screen before the reboot?

Does booting to live DVD work?

If you just want to get BT5 installed permanently on a hard drive, just boot the DVD. Live USB sticks are more trouble than they're worth, if you're just using it to install, IMO.
