What's the capacity of the drive you're using?
What process/tutorial did you use in setting it up?
Finally got my computer to boot BT from my flash drive for the first time. Now, I'm having difficulties getting it to run. It is also my first time booting up a Linux OS of any sort.
After selecting which ever type of BT I want to boot, I end up with these last few lines before being expected to put in a command. Any ideas?
portcp: cannot create 'root/var/log' : is a directory
mount: mounting /dev on /root/dev failed: no such file
mount: mounting /sys on /root/sys failed: no such file
mount: mounting /proc on /root/proc failed: no such file
target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init
no init found. try passing init: bootarg

I'm a compulsive post editor, you might wanna wait until my post has been online for 5-10 mins before quoting it as it will likely change.
I know I seem harsh in some of my replies. SORRY! But if you're doing something illegal or posting something that seems to be obvious BS I'm going to call you on it.
Have you verified the MD5 checksum?
Have you tried another USB drive?
Have you tried a different image?
Thank you for the replies, still haven't had any luck. Looking back, now realizing how vague my post was.
8gb flash drive
Put BackTrack on flash drive using UNetBootin
Using 64-bit KDE version, downloaded directly
I have downloaded it 2 different times and both have given same results.
Have also tried formatting the flash drive and running UNetBootin again, same result.
Try the memory stick on another system?
Try just burning the ISO and booting from DVD?

It seems to me like a bad Flash memory stick...If it cannot mount folders because there are "no such file", simply because they are not there or are damaged. You reformatted the memory stick and still the same problem?...Bad memory stick....
Try DVD live or another memory stick.
See what happens.
