first steps of installations does not work

hello!
i have downloaded and burned on dvd 64 gnome bt5 r2. actually ive bought laptop yesterday and installed fedora17, now i wanted to install bt5 on hdd, and i cant even get to startx command. ive changed the boot to dvd. i get to the menu and select default setup, i then get to the screen which is the background i believe and works there for 15min. after that i get black screen and messages with errors
squashfs errors with unable to read metadata cache entry and directory blocks.
end requests : I/O errors dev sr0(thats disc?)
its working like that for like half an hour and then it stops.

chipset: AMD RS880M
i havent found any similar problems, so i hope this isnt any stupid question
im a new user to linux so please bare with me, i apologize if i did something "obviously wrong".

I'm new to linux and BackTrack but I'm quite good with Windows and BIOS settings.
Your new laptop could have a function that makes linux unable to boot. You may try
the following:

While you start your PC, press the F2 key (depends on your pc) to boot into your BIOS.
After booting in BIOS, look around and try to find I/O settings. You may try to LOCK or
TURN-OFF the 'New Card Interface'.

This worked for me, I'm now using linux with the settings I typed above.
