    Default Pyrit server: GPU or db?

    Hello,

    I checked different howtos, but i am still unsure whether Backtrack uses the term "Pyrit server" for the machine hosting the GPU(s) or the machine with the database and "work dispatcher"?

    Thank's for any feedback!

    John

    Hello again!

    as I understand the GPU-cards are the most important speed factor in a Pyrit environment.

    But I could imaging that with a certain number of powerful GPU the throughput of the network and disk/db could become a performance issue too..

    Is there a way to determine the required throughput of the network and disk/db in relation to the number of used GPU/GigaFLOPS?

    Thank's a lot for any feedback!

    @john99,

    Basically, Pyrit is written in Python and the speed is quite slow. According to other GPU users, AMD display card is much faster than nVidia under Pyrit and other tools.

    By the way, BackTrack 5 R2 is equipped with oclhashcat+. Take it a look.
