its seems the start service postgres does not work, and it is listed as a bug under the backtrack wiki....

PostGres: When starting Postgres "cannot access 'var/postgres/' No such file or directory. "Cannot access the server conf. file "var/postgres/postgresql.conf.


is there a fix for this? has anyone else got it working through the method i mentioned above?

PS works if i use metasploit but not from services start postgres in the GUI
