Default Difference between ISO and VMWare image types

On http://www.backtrack-linux.org/downloads/, if I choose Gnome, I have the option of downloading the ISO image type or the VMWare (ending in .7z) image type. What's the difference? It seems I am able to use the ISO for VirtualBox.

ISO is for CD, DVD, or Oracle Virtual Machines. The VMWare is another Virtual machine from VMWare Inc. So if you are using the Virtual MAchine from VMWare Inc, you need to install the VMWare, if you install the Linux (Oracle)Virtual Machine, use ISO image.

Linux/Oracle Virtual Machine is free, the vmWare need to buy...

    Hope it helps.

Thanks, maverik. Since I use the free Oracle VM VirtualBox program, I'll need the ISO.

You can use both iso image and vmware image with vmware

so which should you use ??

if you plan in using it it vmware then use the vmware image
if you plan in installing in on a usb or to a hardrive then use an iso

You can use the ISO for VirtualBox. Remember to set a good amount of space to the VM.

But if you want to use aircrack-ng to crack network, you need a USB network adapter.
