Will not load past 24%

This is the 5th time and 4 method I've used to try to install BT5.

I tried several VM's, will not install past 24% hangs.
I tried a side by side with win 7 - again not past 24%, this time reboots at 24% but since incomplete does not boot from HD.
I tried a laptop, complete format of the hard drive again at 24% reboot and an incomplete install.
Tried to overlay the last install and again at 24% reboot.

can someone please help me get this intalled?

i too have this problem, but mine hangs at 54- 64%. This scenario occurs on 2 different, separately purchased (ebay) cds. They both boot of the cd, but hang consistently on the installation. I have noticed that when i finally reboot, and try again, the install sh tells me at the beginning (step 4) that i have ubuntu 10.4 installed..... so i think the hang occurs once the ubuntu piece is done. I have tried this install several times, and it is a very predictable failure.... i am just amazed at how hard this software is to install.....

after at least 20 attempts, on different configurations (of essentially, the same machine, a toshiba a15 (ide, 1gb ram...) i finally got btr5 installed. I previously had btr4 32 kde easily installed on the same machine so naturally i used btr5 kde 32 (duh.....). But it always hung in the disk installation at 50 -64%...... (see my previous post). Also (not in my original post...) when it had booted from the cd/dvd, it would freeze if there was no keyboard / mouse activity after 5-8 minutes. i have no clue why.....
finally,today i decided to try the btr52 gnome 32 version, so i burnt my umpteenth dvd-r, but this time i burnt it at 8x..... sorry i changed 2 variables.... gnome and burn rate
and dawg it installed!!!! this has been a way-too-long process.... but its ok, i am retired.

so..... i am not sure if the gnome version was the enabler or the lower burn rate..... my gut tells me it is gnome......
i have never used gnome before..... but guess what?????

i hope this helps someone........ and i have read here on the forums that gnome is better....
like i even care at this point!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suggest you turn the CDs into an iso image and verify the MD5 has and then install via unetbootin or another usb method, it works every time for me. the only install problems I have had before were because I had corrupted ISOs and another time I ran a memtest and it turns out my RAM was corrupt and messing up BT5 upon install.

Try create partition with gparted first, format it as ext4 filesystem, apply changes and rebbot with BT5 live DVD, then try install manually, in the partition you created. Use a 32-bit version of BT5...

If you want to try BT4 r2, it is final version and very stable...

my pc is so old, the bios does not support usb boot..... i wish it did
