I have been running backtrack on a side box for the past few years, never had any issues until I got a new quadcore, 4gb ram, 2 nvidia geforce gpu's to become a network pyrit server. I was trying to get the audio to work on it for the past few weeks unsuccessfully. If anyone could direct me to the proper spot it would be much appreciated. I've searched the forums / google / irc networks for answers before posting this question.
Many thank yous.

Problem: While opening audio settings via Main Menu -> System Preferences -> Sound. It hangs on ("Waiting on Sound System to Respond.")
P.S. : I've totally recompiled alsa drivers from scratch from their installation instructions also.
