Atheros AR5007EG not functioning in BT

I was going to buy one of the airpcap adapters eventually, just not right away. I *just* bought this laptop over the weekend. Frustrating...

With the commview drivers, are you just extracting them from the trial download? What program(s) are you using after you replace the drivers?

AR5007 is not atheros.....it's zydas 1211b rebranded by atheros...........

I found documentation that said the AR5007UG was a rebranded Zydas 1211b, but not for the AR5007EG. Are you sure that the EG is also a Zydas chip?

If you buy a REAL atheros card you will be able to use it in backtrack and in windows. For instructions on windows,aircrack and all that stuff visit the taz forum. they are the poop digidy on windows.

The netgear wg511t is by far the best for me but you should ask sploitz,parrot boy,streaker the freaker,slakster,the prez and OH shit my prarie is on fire for they're opinions

Ok, so ndiswrapper, does work, but I was finding old drivers to work with. I went to the ndiswrapper page on sourceforge and they had a list of cards known to work. Mine was on there, but with a different laptop model. That didn't matter. I downloaded the latest drivers from a link there, followed the ndiswrapper instructions I found earlier, and viola! Very satisfying indeed.

To get drivers that will work with Atheros AR5007EG:
***Edit*** The file was removed from the original location. I found one with the same file name, but I haven't verified whether or not it works.

To my knowledge..from a month ago when I was last on the aircrack smokers site...

Atheros Madwifi drivers do not support USB devices..period.

Good to know. Thanks. Yet another hurdle... My laptop doesn't have a pcmcia slot. Looks like I'll be doing the bulk of my wireless work in Vista with an AirPcap adapter, once I come up with another $300 **sigh**
