I think I'll be pushing out v1.3 a little prematurely today or tomorrow. there are one or two things I plan on squaring away before hand but there have been so many changes and revision I have made that if I do anything more I might as well call it v1.5 or something although I would have to say my version system is pretty arbitrary at best lol.

thanks for all the support everyone, nearly 5k views here, over 1k downloads on sourceforge and this has been the most active week in terms of downloads on sourceforge aswell, I can't wait to see the reception 1.3 gets!

I just pushed out v1.3 to the sourceforge. The update was getting pretty bulky so I decided to release it right after I got the desktop icon feature all figured out. It has a few new features, some improvements to previous features among some other cool additions to help make running the script a little easier and more user friendly. Also I changed the default text color so let me know what you think

here is the full list of substantial changes:

    Code:
    ----------------------------| Version: v1.3 |----------------------------

+ Added the ability to toggle on and off the banner on script start up
+ Fixed some issues with the configure utility and made it so some of
its functions are no longer case sensitive in addition to
eliminating the possibility of misconfiguring certain items and
making it generally more user friendly
+ Added dependency checks and the installation of missing dependencies
to the first run of the script
+ Added the ability to force dependency checks even after the first run
+ Added the ability to convert the numbers of a word list into their
    	word equivelant
+ Added ATT Mifi wireless hotspots to the list of default passwords
(I highly suggest you only use the passthrough for this feature)
+ Added the ability to install the script so you can run it from any
    	terminal by typing "thad0ctor"
+ Added a feature that removes 's and version info from the script directory
in order to properly install the script and provide continuity for
future releases when utilizing the install feature
+ Added the ability to create word lists from an ebook file
    	(requires: Calibre)
+ Added the ability to batch convert multiple PDFs and Ebooks into a
    	word list (requires: Calibre)
+ Fixed some manipulation tools so they have y/n prompts before they go
ahead and create / modify word lists
+ Added a feature that installs a shortcut and icon to run the script
from the Applications > Other menu
+ Made many sed based features i.e. replace, insert etc. so you can now
edit files in place or create a new file

My bad I missed a few things that really messed up the configuration system and the dependency check system so I just pushed out a quick fix with an addition few aesthetic changes as well. Luckily there weren't too many versions of 1.3 floating around, sorry about that! From the v1.35 change log.

    Code:
+ Added dependency check to see if the newest version of crunch is
    	installed on your system
+ Added dependency checks for some dependencies that slipped through
    	the cracks
+ Fixed issue with configure functions and the GTK toggle not working
    	properly
+ Tweaked the main menu to make it look a bit better
+ Fixed a bug with the dependency checks that caused some not to be
installed even if they were missing
The new version is available from Sourceforge @ https://sourceforge.net/projects/thad0ctorstools/ , by cloning the repo or with the update feature!

I should be pushing out v1.4 today or tomorrow. A lot of going on with my unit redployment so the development might be paused for a while so I rather push out what I have for v1.4 now instead of letting it sit a bit longer.

I just pushed out v1.4. Due to some changes in the script the update feature going into v1.4 will not work so it must be manually downloaded from SOurceforge but changes should prevent this issue from ever happening again.

Here are the changes to v1.4:

    Code:
    ----------------------------| Version: v1.4 |----------------------------

+ The script has now officially become "thad0ctor's backtrack 5 toolkit"!
+ Added a function to display the Sourceforge Delevopment RSS Feed from
the information menu and updated the dependencies accordingly
+ Added a quick internet check to the start of the script (see banner)
and intergrated that with a little notification on the main menu
to show whether or not the version of the script you are using is
up to date or not and whether or not you have internet
+ Reworked the menu system to make it a better looking and more compact
+ Added a function from the information menu that shows just the changes
from the last version of the script
+ Added some basic Wifi attack based tools and utilities, more to come
+ Updated the menu system to compartamentalize the word list tools and
added an entry for the wifi tools to the main menu
+ Added banners to each menu entry to make things look better and for a
    	little self promotion ;)
+ Added feature to display the most recent RSS feed news entry to the
top of the main menu and the ability to toggle it off
+ Cleaned up the main script file and sourced all functions to their own
individual scripts nested in orders to make editing and reverse
engineering the script easier and generally neater
+ Added the script's supporting documents to their own folder to clean
    	up the script's file directory
+ Updated the logging function so it now logs user input as well
+ Added GTK functions for the pipal and dictstat analyzation tools
+ Added new banners to the script start up to reflect the script's name
change to "thad0ctor's backtrack 5 toolkit"
    Enjoy!

    Hi there.
I'm quite interested in this work.

    I'm wondering 2 things.

1 - What algorithm you follow to get the pass for the Thomson routers? Do you simple use every hex number?
2 - Is there anyway to pipe the list directly to aircrack (or better yet, to pyrit) instead of writing the all file to the disk?

Thanks and keep up with the excellent work.

Hey thanks for taking an interest

    1) Thomson's Speedtouch default password algorythm has been discovered here: http://www.mentalpitstop.com/touchsp...d_by_ssid.html

Using my script you can create all possible combinations for all these routers but in the near future I anticipate creating a feature for a more direct approach to target on specific router opposed to all of them

    2) Yes, the script has a function to passthrough certain features to Aircrack or Pyrit. Each eligible feature has (PT) on the right side of its menu entry. In order to enable this please go to the main menu, to configure, and from there you will need to enable all the passthrough options. You must enter what typwe of program to passthrough to, the capture file and the ESSID of the network. I have tested the function when I first released it but since I moved most of the dependency functions to sattelite files I have not gotten the chance to test it, therefore if it does not work to spec please let me know and I will fix it for the next release which I anticipate will be within the next 2 weeks.

Just a side note to everyone, I am due to return from deployment within the next several days. I have been all over the palce and limited to the amount of time I can use my computer but when I get back and am not limited to just my laptop I plan onr eally strengthening the script and adding plenty of more functions beyond simply word lists functions to include more wifi related stuff and etc to hopefully make the script a nice on stop shop for all your BT5 productivity increasing needs.

In addition I plan on getting a website up and running in the near future to provide some documentation, a redmine, another SVN among other things to help support the script and make it more user firendly!

I'll keep everyone posted and get ready for some more features in the near future

Just a little update, I recently got back from my deployment and finally got my PC with internet all established. Before I left Afghanistan I started overhauling to script to remove a lot of unnecessary lines of code and provide some more customization to include multiple colors for input, file names, etc.

Also I'm working on removing a lot of frivolous lines of code and streamlining the script with better functionality when it comes to file checks, etc. It going to take a while but it should pay off in the long run and should allow for easier development in the future and make everything more standardized. I shouldn't have let it get to 12000+ lines of code before I decided to do this but its better late than never. In addition to this overhaul I still have a bunch of stuff in mind that should really improve the script vastly both on the Word list front and with other BT5 related functions I would like to branch out to. Also I have yet to really check out R3 but if there is anything new I can utilize in there I plan on doing that aswell

This might take quite a while but it should be worth it in the long run. Chances are the next release will be 2.0 which will be fully revamped and have plenty of additional functionality to keep people busy. If anyone has any suggestions or recommendations now would be a great time!
