Default hanging at step 3 on install, help

I recently purchased a new pavilion g7. removed all unnecessary partitions and prepared for my backtrack 5r1 hard disk install. as always I used the "Gnome x64" version. I booted no problems, went straight to install and launched. the install steps went smooth until step 3, keyboard region. after choosing USA and next, the installer hangs on keyboard setup every time.

I have tried my live usb and dvd, both x64 and x32 ver. . I have searched the net for a while but no luck with this problem. I would appreciate some help if any is available. thank you in advance

I left the installer on for hours, still the same. It doesnt progress from step 3...

Any luck yet? Ive also tried installing from a USB and a DVD.

Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks.

the first thing anyone who will try to help you guys is going to ask, is did you compare the iso's md5 checksum?

As its crashing getting to stage 4 (which is related to partitioning), I would look into that.

Are you wanting to do a single boot or a multiple boot?
Try looking at your partitions (fdisk for command line, or gparted for GUI [you'll need to install it: apt-get install gparted])
    Have you...g0tmi1k?

this happened to me too. i had a brand new Kingston 4Gb memory stick.
I booted from the stick into xwin
    installed gparted via apt-get
Gparted bombed out with an error:
    Assertion Head Size <= 63

This, apparently, is a known bug in the Ubuntu / unetbootin / combination

    see this thread

    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ed/+bug/545911

I burned the live distro to cd and now i'm onto step 4 ...

If you google, you'll find lots of steps on fixing this, such as using a different make-boot util, but I couldn't be fagged.

    cheers
