Default WICD Unable to get IP address

I am using Backtrack 5 dual booting on my EEEPC 1005HA. My wireless card is an Atheros 9285. Before someone snaps at me I have been googling this error and searching the forums for about a week. So before I throw my laptop against the wall I figured I'd try here. I start WICD then open then open the interface. It sees the networks but when I try to connect I get an unable to obtain ip address. I have tried changing the preferences, I have tried using a ton of terminal commands from different forums i readon the smilar issue and nothing is working. Pleas help!

You could add the solution to this problem, in case other people bump into it.

Head over to the Linux wireless site. Download the latest compat-wireless driver and follow the instructions towards the bottom of the page. Just be sure to use the ath9k drivers. when you use the ./scripts/driver-select <driver-name> command so it would look like

    ./scripts/driver-select ath9k

now if I could only get the moderators to approve my other post about backtrack not recognizing my awus036h?

    open terminal :
    update-rc.d wicd defaults
    /etc/init.d/wicd start
    /etc/init.d/networking start
iwconfig ( to show all network devices)
ifconfig (put your device ,Ex. Ifconfig eth0 up)

if u use backtrack as user
    wicd
    ifconfig wlan0 up
    ifconfig
    then
    sudo update-rc.d wicd defaults
    sudo /etc/init.d/wicd start

    Or
    sudo /etc/init.d/networking start
    then restart

I didn't try these steps yet. But, if this is the solution, it would not work with a live cd, right? I mean because you'd need to restart and you'd leave all your changes. So, I'd need to install BT on a hard disk or to wait a release that solves this bug...

    On terminal

    Code:
    wicd -foe
    CTRL^C
then, remove the icd restart on start.
    Do

    Code:
    wicd -for
    agin, done.
