The answer is 42.
I'm not only the sysadmin, but I already have the BoFH attitude, although no one remembered it was Sysadmin day (even though I put it on the company calendar last year), I still had a good day.
I have a bunch of new really cool equipment coming in next week, I'm ordering a new server to function as a Sandbox in a couple of weeks, we're going to get a new database server in the budget for next year. I got permission to go to and take a week long class on the company dime.
So far, everything I've asked for in the past year and half I've gotten, so I think I'm appreciated.
A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one.
