BT5R2 Kernel Issues

Upgraded to R2 no problem... everything works, but...

The 3.2.6 kernel runs way hotter and slower than the 2.6.39 kernel - the drop in performance is really noticeable. I'm on a Dell E6410 (Core i7 620M) laptop with Nvidia display. Under 3.2.6 the fan ran full speed 100% of the time, battery life was dramatically degraded, and throughput speed was noticeably slower.

I am working on compiling a new custom 3.2.6 kernel - so far haven't gotten the custom kernel to boot. Switched back to 2.6.39 and it is smooth, quiet, and cool. I didn't find much to change in the 3.2.6 kernel config so I wasn't very optimistic about improving the performance in any case.

It seems they changed something significant between 2.6 and 3.2 that isn't very compatible with this machine. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Any ideas of what to change in the kernel config for 3.2.6?

I've got the same problem. Specially with Internet connection, that is so much slower than the previous version.

I'm using 32-bit KDE... Should probably switch to the 64-bit, didn't originally go with it because of compatibility concerns with legacy apps. Did get a new kernel to compile and install. It seems possibly _very_ slightly better than the stock kernel but still hotter and slower than 2.6.39.4.

im ok with the new kernel ..

im using IBM ThinkPad R50e (Old but powerfull) intel display card ,, proccesor intel centereno 1.70 GHZ

and all work fine ,,
