    Question backtrack v1 keyboard issue

Hi guys, been using first release of backtrack dual booting on my dell Laptop for some time now and it's been great.
Now after i run startx, the keyboard response is very slow, i.e i need to hold every key down for at least 1 second otherwise it's not displayed. The key response is fine before running startx, I haven't changed any settings, although I have now tried messing around with the delay etc and it doesn't change.
    Anyone any ideas?
I might just install V2 over the top of it, p.s. If I do this do I need to re-setup the grub loader as it dual boots again? I think i prob do.
    Thanks in advance.
