I'm having the same issue, running on the asus eee 1215n with e350 APU ....not sure if it's just a display issue, booting in to recovery mode won't allow me to reconfigure my graphics properties properly.
after update to R2 blank screen
the grub loader I already have ubuntu kernel 3.2.6.
after I've entered fix-splash ..
reboot
after the user inputs stelah + pass it blank screen?
please Explain

I managed to solve my issue by booting into recovery mode (hold shift while booting to access grub boot menu) and uninstalling my flgrx amd/ati display drivers and reinstalling them. Also had to run prepare-kernel-sources (http://www.backtrack-linux.org/wiki/...Kernel_Headers) to get some of my updates to programs to take. Hope this helps.
I'm so tired of getting this problem. This has happened now each time bt5 has been released. Not even gonna try the fixes that work for the lucky ones cause they've never worked for me. Thinkpad Edge 14inch Core i3, 32-bit gnome here, went from R1 -> R2 using apt-get.. Time to download the full ISO and reformat...
