    Question AWUS036NHR Wireless Card and Back|Track5 R1

    Hello BT community!

relatively new to linux so bare with. I've givin as much info as possible to make it easier for those whom help

So the title basically states what I'm trying to accomplish, and that's getting my AWUS036NHR ALFA USB Wireless card to work with the current 2.6.39.4 Kernel of BT5 R1 64bit so that I can update to a newer Kernel.

As referance I've been following this guide posted by manzamanna:

    http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forum...ad.php?t=45323

    I skipped the
    Code:
    "--- prepare kernel sources:"
part and went straight for the
    Code:
    "--- build and install drivers:"
    part.

I've successfully built my drivers, however I can not install them because I get this error:

    Code:
    root@bt:/usr/src/compat-wireless-2011-07-14# make
/usr/src/compat-wireless-2011-07-14/config.mk:212: "WARNING: CONFIG_CFG80211_WEXT will be deactivated or not working because kernel was compiled with CONFIG_WIRELESS_EXT=n. Tools using wext interface like iwconfig will not work. To activate it build your kernel e.g. with CONFIG_LIBIPW=m."
    make -C /lib/modules/2.6.39.4/build M=/usr/src/compat-wireless-2011-07-14 modules
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.39.4/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
    make: *** [modules] Error 2
My assumption is that I have to prepare the kernal sources in order to install the Compat-wireless drivers I just built.

My question is when I get to the apt-get command on the
    Code:
    "--- prepare kernel sources:"
part, it fails due to lack of internet connection, so what can I do to prepare the kernel sources so that I can install my wifi card drivers that I've built?
