It should be one of the first things you can opt-in or out.
Are you really sure that side-by-side isn't available? Sounds goofy to me.

You are run virtualbox or vmware? Try run boot cd with bt5 and install. From boot cd option that option are there, (in my case)!
Good luck!

Pffbt..
I made a discovery today. I found a computer. Wait a second, this is cool. It does what I want it to. If it makes a mistake, it's because I screwed it up. Not because it doesn't like me... Or feels threatened by me.. Or thinks I'm a smart ass..
I see "I installed Backtrack and now Windows is gone!" posts in the future....
Of course, if you really wanted to have some fun, go to Wal-Mart late at night and ask the greeter if they could help you find trashbags, roll of carpet, rope, quicklime, clorox and a shovel. See if they give you any strange looks. --Streaker69
I just installed BT5 along side of Win7 with no probs. I installed it from a BT5 disk i made when BT5 was first released not sure if that was why it worked. I did however, have trouble booting into BT5 and had to use "fix-splash" and remove 4 things before it would load the x server properly. Since then i have updated, upgraded and everything is kosher. Even fixed the problem of my wireless card hanging/stop working after a few mins of using airodump-ng or aireplay-ng. =D
